STUDIO god’s gift by Changyeon Lee
작가 이창연은 뉴욕/라스베가스/서울을 오가며 뉴미디어 예술 작업을 진행하고 있다. 그는 대한민국 정부 국비유학생으로 New York University Tisch School of the Arts의 Interactive Telecommunications Program(ITP)에서 석사학위를 수여받았다. 그는 현재 서강대학교 미디어 아트&테크놀로지 박사과정(예술공학박사)에 재학 중이다.
2018년, 그는 International Young Artist Association의 대상 작가(Grand-Prix)로 선정되었으며, 미국 마이애미에서 열리는 세계 최대 규모 아트쇼인 Scope Miami Beach Art Show 전시작가로 선정되었다. 그는 또한 2018년 영국 Destig Award 올해의 작가상(Artist of the Year)를 수상하였다.
시인, 뉴미디어 크리에이티브(TBWA), 데이터 아티스트, 넷 아티스트, 그리고 키네틱 인스톨레이션 아티스트로서 그는 인터랙티브 미디어의 제의적(ritual) 사용 가능성을 실험해 나가는 중이며, 그의 작업은 뉴욕 Museum of Moving Image, 뉴욕 Interactive Corp(IAC), 뉴욕 두산 갤러리, 베를린 Schwules Museum, 미국 시민전쟁 150주년 현충일 기념 전시, 서울 광화문광장 Public x Public 전시 등 미국, 독일, 한국 등의 국가에서 전시되고 있다.
또한, 영국의 Tate Modern, Saatchi Gallery, ICA London, Serpentine, 프랑스의 Pompidou Centre, Palais de Tokyo, 미국의 MCA Chicago 등 20개 이상 국가들의 Museum 및 Gallery들에서 그의 작품들을 소개하고 있다.
뮤지움/갤러리 전시 뿐만 아니라, CNN, BBC, 포브스, 타임즈, 가디언, 블룸버그, Canal+, 파이낸셜 타임즈, 인디펜던트, ABC News, Business Insider, Yahoo, TRT, China News Daily, Sky, The Press, Al Jazeera 등 전 세계 4,500개 이상의 매체와 뉴스룸들이 그의 작업을 소개하고 있다.
